Lower Income Families Struggling and Paying More than Upper Income Drivers
February 15, 2012 by Thomas Brownlee · Leave a Comment
Car insurance rates are always the topic of discussion amongst drivers. Some people now feel that poor people pay more for their auto insurance coverage then middle and upper class drivers do.
The group that is alleging this is called The Consumer Federation of America. They believe that state regulators do not assess each persons insurance policies fairly and that there are regulations that need to be changed.
When a car insurance company looks at a persons information, they want to assess the risk that the driver poses to insure. For example, if a person lives in a neighborhood with a lower crime rate than they pose less of a risk to insure than a person who lives in an area with more crime.
Many lower income drivers feel that these practices are causing them to be discriminated against.

Florida Works to Control Health Care Costs

Florida Legislature is considering a bill that would require doctors and health care centers to post prices of their services.
This bill is being applauded by consumer advocates as many patients are perplexed by the cost of health care services and how much health insurance will pay for a service.
Why is posting the costs of health care services such a good idea?
- No surprises. With the costs of services posted, you will know what you are paying for out-of-pocket. There are no surprises later when you get the bill and allow you to budget appropriately.
- Ability to shop around.

Shopping for life insurance can be a daunting task. Which company should I choose? How much coverage do I need? What term length is right for me? Will I even qualify for coverage? These are a few lifestyle factors to consider when trying to figure out what your options are.
Most people know that certain lifestyle choices, such as smoking, can have a negative effect on your eligibility for life insurance. Tobacco use is one of the main dividing factors that life insurance companies use to determine whether or not you will qualify for premium rates. Some insurance companies will even deny coverage to a potential customer if they use tobacco products.

The second GoHealth Innovation Invasion held at Joes Bar on Weed Street was a tremendous success. Just like the first event, every single project presented really could help change the business for the better. A total of 14 teams participated in the Invasion and participants had just 48-hours to develop their innovation.
Many tech members worked around the clock to finish their projects. Some were so committed to their project that they actually slept overnight in the office.
At the end of the day just one team made its way through a double-elimination tournament as the champion. All of the presenters mustered up the courage to get on stage and tell the entire company why their innovation should be implemented and win the grand prize.
