Four charged with multi-million pound insurance fraud

The Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) has confirmed that four people, some of whom are from the medical and legal professions, have been charged as part of an ongoing joint operation with City of London Police.

The individuals are suspected of being involved in a multi-million pound fraud against the UK insurance industry and the joint investigation has been supported by both the General Medical Council and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

The persons charged on 22nd September are: lawyer, Brian Barso, charged with money laundering and fraud by false representation; Dr Lawrence Adler, charged with money laundering and fraud by false representation; company director Frank Harrold, charged with money laundering and company director, Natalie Barso, charged with money laundering.

All have been bailed to appear at City of London Magistrates’ Court on 8th October 2010.

IFB director, Glen Marr, comments: “Rooting out and disrupting professionals who feature in any act of organised fraud against insurers is a priority for the IFB and will continue to be.”
